Looks like I’ll be reading The Professor by Charlotte Bronte. I’m excited to read this because Villette is one of my most favorite novels. Let’s hope I get this read by the deadline of July 7th. I need to catch up on my Trollope and make some headway with my TBR challenge. Ack! Too many books!

  1. I’m a little embarrassed to admit I’ve never heard of this particular CB novel. I’m really looking forward to your thoughts on it when you’re finished!

    1. I was interested in reading it because Villette is my favorite CB novel. Folks tend to agree that the earlier, shorter work The Professor is an earlier version (at least in subject/theme) as Villette.

  2. I can echo that “Ack!” I had made a list, and #1 for me is Corelli’s Mandolin by Louis De Bernieres. It’s been on my shelves since 2009, so it’s about time for me to read it. 🙂 Happy reading to you!

    1. Emma was my last ccspin pic and I didn’t get to it. I read Emma in college ages ago and hated it. I know I need to reread it and I’m sure I will love it. I love all the other Austen novels. Let me know what you think when you’re done!

  3. Yay for all the Villette lovers! I am one also. I haven’t read The Professor but I have read some of CB’s juvenilia. You can tell it’s all CB but it’s just… well, just not Villette or Jane Eyre. I’m interested to hear whether The Professor is the same kind of thing.
