Sam just left with the kids to visit his grandfather. I find myself in a quiet house with a cup of wassail and a lovely stack of new journals and books and a new, lovely fountain pen. In a few minutes I’ll dip into Middlemarch and then I’ll put some soup on for dinner. This little hush after the festivities of this morning is a delightful time to reflect on today.
The kids spent the morning playing with new gifts, Atticus was excited the reindeer ate all the carrots we left out, Hope has put her new makeup and hair straighter to use and looks fabulous, Persy ate pancakes for the first time, and Sam affirmed that we cannot wait to spend all our Christmases together.
I hope your day has been merry and bright and I wish you peace, happiness, and many good books in 2014.
